I wrote this poem over 10 years ago. It means more to me now then ever before. It speaks volumes to me because at the very end it expresses the RIGHT NOW moment that I AM FEELING. I just never knew it before. Never knew it until NOW. The poem makes reference to the past and the future but the last sequence is talking about RIGHT NOW. Gosh!!! Over 10 years later ......I just never knew it until NOW. The ironic thing is that it is titled TIRED EYES but for the first time I feel like my eyes have been fully awakened. Amazing!!
TIRED EYES : by Cheryl Lynn Ambrose
Maybe I would think you were more real
If my eyes did not have to picture you here
It would be very nice to feel
That you were at least a little sincere
These visions will not last for long
As I am sure someone else will be in my view
But I am feeling like you belong
Right where my heart grew
Since the day that I saw you
And I can not believe it has only been days
Because I feel like it has been a long time
Do not let my memory get a haze
Do not let me go blind
So I may be thinking of something
That does not even exist
But I am hanging here on a thin string
To something I can not resist
So if you feel even remotely close
To what I am feeling for you
Then I will be here waiting
To make your dreams come true
But if time will eventually pass
And your face gently fades away
I will still be glad I had the chance
To meet you on that day
Or if time bends and leads me back
As if I never left
I will kiss you with grace
And take you in my arms
And surround you with a loving embrace
But life will lead us to where God has planned
No matter how I would like things to really be
But I feel like I have upon me His hand
And the guidance that led you to me
